phati’tude Signs Up With Library Subscription Services
phati’tude Literary Magazine signs up with library subscription services to expand its library market.
Literary magazines are the “new books” because each issue provides a variety of authors in one book-length publication. phati’tude Literary Magazine has published up to 80 writers that includes essays, articles, short stories, book reviews and lots of poetry in just one issue. We also publish a large selection of artwork and photographs, so we believe we have a lot to offer to readers, and specifically subscribers, which is our major target audience.
In order to capture a wider reading audience, the IAAS is working closely with library subscription services to help us promote phati’tude Literary Magazine to libraries in the U.S., Canada and overseas. While we opened an account with EBSCO last year, this year we’ve added BASCH Subscription Services, WOLPER Subscription Services, SWETS, and HARRASSOWITZ. Why? Libraries have been the wellspring for literary magazines for over a century because librarians recognize that provide readers access to new writers they’ll want to learn more about and whose books they’ll eventually read. A literary magazine is also an ideal bridge between readers and authors, as well as an invaluable resource for researchers investigating obscure works by well-known writers. As an added plus, they’re a prime source for writers discovering appropriate publications to which to submit their work.
The IAAS plans to work closely with these library subscription services by promoting phati’tude Literary Magazine to library conferences around the world, and by advertising in library journals so that librarians can become acquainted with our quarterly publication. Libraries are providing the public not just with contemporary literature but they are also preserving it for future historical use. We want phati’tude Literary Magazine to become a part of that tradition.
